There are many great places to go fishing in Mexico and one can fish inland in freshwater or out in the sea. One of these great fishing spots is Mazatlan which is a terrific location where you can actually fish all year round. Typically, the most commonly caught fish here are tuna, sailfish, dorado, sea bass and grouper. Mazatlan is considered by many in Mexico to be the very best place to catch bass and this coastal resort is a great place to vacation and offers very reliable fishing for the enthusiast. In addition, there are also lakes nearby where fishing for native bass and Florida black bass is popular, so it is easy to see why this region is considered a fisherman’s paradise. Several fishing charter companies operate in the area making it convenient to get out onto the water and take part in some quality fishing.

Shore Line Fishing

Year-round fishing is also available off Acapulco, where you are likely to catch tuna, red snapper, sailfish, marlin, roosterfish and dorado. The bay area  is 24 miles long and many fish can be caught even a short distance from the shore.

Cozumel and Cancun are two regions that are similarly popular for fishing but as they become increasingly busy with college students during spring break, you may want to ensure that your trip does not coincide with this time period. Sport fishing is popular here with sailfish caught mainly during March to May and tuna and marlin during April and May.

Los Cabos in Mexico, is the biggest sport fishing venue in the country and includes the areas of La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, and San Jose del Cabo. Here various fishing tours and packages are on offer giving the prospective angler plenty to choose from. This entire region has many options for fishing, but Los Cabos is considered the world capital for catching marlin although expect to see dorado, yellowfish tuna, and sierra Spanish mackerel as well. Definitely one of the best spots in the world for ocean fishing so if that’s your preference take note!

Deep Sea Fishing

If deep sea fishing is what you lean toward, then the sea off the coast of Puerto Vallarta may be your best choice for a top fishing spot. The fish that you are likely to catch include red snapper, bonita, tuna, shark, marlin and sailfish.

Another terrific deep-sea fishing place is Costalegre where there is a luxury resort and conditions that have been described by some to be the best in the world for sailfish not to mention marlin, rooster fish, dorado, and giant tuna. Whatever your pleasure Mexico is sure to deliver when it comes to fishing! Deep sea or off shore this beautiful country has it all.
